Product Description

4 tracks, 69 minutes. A lyricless album of immense personal meaning to its creator. Cathartic doom at its most breathtakingly beautiful. A rare treat.  Packaged in a six-panel, spot varnished art stock digiwallet.

As the title suggests, Asva's second album maps an internal landscape - wild, vast, open - at once breathtakingly beautiful as it is potentially dangerous. A psycho-geographical vista of mountain highs, barren rolling plains and oceanic lows. Helmed by Stuart Dahlquist, formerly of Burning Witch, Goatsnake and SunnO))), and recorded with the cream of the Pacific North West's rich musical talent, including members of Burning Witch, Mr. Bungle and Earth. This is a lyricless album of immense personal meaning to its creator, giving a very real sense of catharsis for both listener and performers alike. But there's also real hope and resolution at its core.

"What You Don't Know Is Frontier is about rebirth... about that light at the end of the tunnel. Amen." - Stuart Dahlquist

Praise for past releases:

"Like Carl Orff covering Winter... It reminds me of the first time I heard Mozart's I, or Gould's Goldberg Variations. The music has a punishing sort of beauty, an inflicted aesthetics that hands the hearer no choice." - Stewart Voegtlin (Oaken Throne zine)

"Epic doom metal that storms the heavens while dragging its turgid riffs from the depths of hell..." Mojo Magazine

"Asva chase the thrill of the new but can still carve the sound of the world crashing down out of the barest constituents. A rare treat." - Terrorizer 9/10

"Their performance has us in mind of mangled car wreckage, blotchy x-rays and unexpected 2am phone calls, leaving us free to breath a sigh of relief when its all over. We're all doomed, or at least we are tonight." - Metal Hammer- live review.
