The Crassical Collection continues apace, and the second release is the newly remastered Stations Of The Crass. After many years of being out of print, this legendary album has been repackaged and bolstered by rare and unreleased tracks, and stunning new artwork from Gee Vaucher, who has lovingly created what could only be considered a real artefact. Included in this package is a 64-page booklet featuring extensive liner notes from band members Penny Rimbaud and Steve Ignorant which sheds light on the making of the record, plus a recreation of the original poster sleeve.
from the liner notes:
'Smarmy Tin Pan Alley shysters got in touch to inform us without a hint of irony that they could make us rich by 'marketing revolution'. Big label A&R heisters were to let us know that if we were prepared to 'clean up our act' there'd be a small fortune to be made. Needless to say, it wasn't difficult for us to tell them all to piss off.'
'Okay, lads,' announced the appointed producer of the day, John Sparrow, slapping his hands together as if somehow he might be able to magic the Beatles out of the ether, 'let's get going, but I warn you, no swearing.' 'Well, that's half our fucking songs out the window,' I complained.'
' 'Fucking hell', moaned Steve, 'd'ya think Abba would've put up with this kind of shit?'
